When I made my first batch of buttercrunch toffee I was instantly gripped by it's magic. Buttery, crunchy, sweet and salty? And chocolatey and nutty?! Sold.
What I love most about this candy is its simplicity of ingredients, yet complexity in its execution.
Consisting of little more than 100% premium French butter and pure cane sugar, this classic candy is cooked right to the edge of a frighteningly intense high heat and then poured - bubbling, popping and hissing - over toasted nuts onto a sheet pan where it sets and cools.
Once cooled, freshly tempered dark bittersweet (cruelty free) chocolate is spread over the crisp, dark amber brown sheet of buttercrunch toffee, topped with fresh, toasted almonds, pistachios or hazelnuts and then finished with a pinch of flaky French Maldon salt.
I have to say. It's amazing. And if you hide this stash from your loved one, I would totally understand.
